    I’ll provide an overview of the essential written materials, that all artists should produce and have ready. These include:

    • Resumé and CV

    The presentation will provide a definition and description of all of the above, an analysis of each, and a demonstration with an example of good practice.

    The presentation will also provide an example of how these important written materials are utilized by third parties such as marketing professionals, galleries and art consultants.

  • In this presentation, I’ll provide an overview of the different types of contracts between artist and gallery. This will include an overview of the formats, with pros and cons of each. Different types of contracts will be defined ie; consignment and representation. Details of what to expect in a contract; contract clauses that are good practice and should be agreed to, and clauses to be aware of that might raise red flags. Finally, we'll discuss the one important clause in a contract that is often overlooked.

    NOTE: The presenter is not a lawyer or legally trained, and it is recommended that artists seek legal advice before agreeing to or signing any legally-abiding contract with a gallery.

  • A deep dive into the intricacies of editioning and pricing fine art photographs.

    In this presentation,I’ll address the importance of pricing and editioning photographs. The presentation will provide a context regarding why or why not to edition, the common edition models, the common pricing models and how they affect your place in the fine art market. I’ll provide and demonstrate a MATH MODEL, to inform edition size, model and price. She will also provide and overview and advice about trade discounts, print swaps and gifting, as well as the importance of sales tracking.

    NOTE: Although this presentation focuses specifically upon photographs, it will be applicable to other visual art forms that incorporate the use of multiples.

Debra Klomp Ching is the co-owner of the Klompching Gallery, New York—ESTABLISHED IN 2007, THE GALLERY specializES in the exhibition and sale of contemporary fine art photographs.

TOGETHER WITH DARREN CHING, SHE is the co-founder of the KLOMPCHING GALLERY’S Fresh PHOTO AWARD and the Rhonda Wilson Award.

She is also a freelance consultant working with collectors and photographers, an educator with 25+ years experience in formal programs of study, a regular judge of photography awards, and a respected reviewer at select portfolio review events.

In 2020 she launched her now sought-after online training PRESENTATIONS, focusing on the creative and business side of making, exhibiting, AND selling fine art photographs.
